Our Story

The Golden Key Center is a unique facility comparable to no other.

The Golden Key was Co-Founded by Terry Frank, an Educational Specialist and Katherine Catazaro-Perry, a registered nurse and a mother of a special needs child along with help from The Arc of Stark County. Services began with a Summer Camp in collaboration with Stark MRDD, which continued through the summer of 2010.

We opened our doors at 1431 30th St NW in Canton on November 8, 2008 for year-round services. We became an Autism Scholarship Provider in September 2008 and a  Provider under the Jon Peterson Scholarship two years later.

We opened the Center because there was no specialized center in Stark County to care for special needs children before and after the school day. We are open weekdays from 6:30 am until 6:00 pm and have operated in our current location since 2008, expanding the array of services offered and the number of children to whom we offer them. In the last six years, $1.2 million has been invested in the purchase of our building and numerous physical improvements that benefit our children, staff, and parents.
